Romeo and Juliet Essay 1

In the play ‘Romeo and Juliet” by William Shakespeare one particular character in the play who I found enjoyable was Romeo. All his actions he performed throughout the play helped me to understand the idea of ‘how revenge brainwashes and kills the innocent’ also how it decides people’s fate.

Romeo is one of the main characters in the play. He is a rebellious and an impulsive individual. Romeo is that type of person who trusts his instincts a fraction too much. Romeo is a ‘player’ who dates many girls and live the life of a gangster. As the play progresses he meets and dates Juliet and we start to see his old tendencies disappear. As he is dating Juliet for a while, we start to notice changes within him and we start to think that he is becoming a mature person looking towards the future. As he looks into the future, he realizes that he should bring peace towards the Capulet’s and the Montague’s but ends up being too much for one man to handle. When Romeo fails to bring peace towards the families, he was banished. From one of his sources, he was informed that Juliet was dead as a result all his maturity and all his newly obtained qualities went to waste. All that was left was his old personalities that lead him to an early death.

Throughout the play, Romeo is an enjoyable character because of his impulsiveness. He shows these acts when he finds out that the Capulet’s are hosting a party. Without any idea with what he is getting into, he decides he is going to attend uninvited. He also thinks that nothing will go wrong and no one will notice him in his disguise. As the Capulet’s party goes on Tybalt, a Capulet notices Romeo and wants to kill him. Tybalt goes to Capulet for his consent. Capulet decides to spare Romeo’s life by telling him to stand down or he may spoil the party. Without Capulet Romeo’s life would have been in danger and Romeo could have lost his life. All this was an act of impulsiveness by Romeo since he did not understand the multiple dangers that were present in the party. What made it even worse was his enemy hosted the party. In the event it created, a lot of tension since there was a lot of possible outcome that could have happened. All this tension was enjoyable to watch. Romeo is a character in the play that is enjoyable to watch based on his acts of impulsiveness.

Romeo’s action in the play reveals the idea of ‘how revenge brainwashes and kills the innocent’. In the play when the Capulet’s and Montague’s are in Verona they have an altercation Romeo tries to break it up but Tybalt ends up killing Romeo’s close friend Mercutio. Romeo breaks down and seeks to get revenge. These types of events have been happening throughout the generations between the two families. Romeo’s case was only an example of what they have been doing to each other for a long time. Having the two families seeking revenge on each other will result in having no winner’s nut two losers. In the play, we see that the families are both in despair. Romeo is a character in the play that only plays a part the big war between the two families but Romeo is an example of what has been going on in the past.

In conclusion, Romeo is a character who has no real thought for what he does. This makes it enjoyable for me to watch. Lastly, Romeo assisted me to understand the idea of how revenge brainwashes and kills the innocent and how costly it is towards him and others.

Romeo And Juliet Essay 2

In the play, Romeo and Juliet there are many conflicts. These conflicts are important because they help you understand the key idea of ‘revenge is costly’.

There are many important conflicts in ‘Romeo and Juliet’. The one conflict I find important towards the play was when Tybalt kills Mercutio, then Romeo seeks revenge and kills Tybalt. One reason it was important is that it put Romeo to the test to see if he had really developed in to a mature person. At first, I thought that he would have permanently changed since he had already made big changes within himself. He chose to go to his old ways and seek revenge. Second reason why this conflict was an important conflict was that Romeo had to make a decision whether to get revenge or to leave him to go. Before the conflict, Romeo seemed to be a changed man who turned for the good. He was confronted with an altercation between the two families which he now a family member if both members since he secretly married Juliet. He confronted the dispute with maturity attempting to bring peace between the families. Consequently, Mercutio dies. Romeo had to make a choice whether he leaves all his good qualities behind, seek revenge or stay fully bonded with Juliet, look to move on, and leaves this war behind them. This conflict resulted in many outcomes in the play, which was why it was an important conflict.

The conflict when Tybalt kills Mercutio then Romeo kills Tybalt helps me to understand the idea of how revenge is costly. It helps me understand because they think that getting revenge is a fair way of settling things. This causes more problems because as we see the example of the conflict of how Tybalt kills Mercutio. Since Tybalt killed Mercutio, the Montague’s think that since Tybalt took the life of someone else his life should be taken of him. As we continue when Romeo kills Tybalt after taking the normal procedures the Montague’s follow now the Capulet’s, think the same since Romeo killed Tybalt, Romeo should be killed to settle things. These ways of dealing with things lead in a chain reaction where both families find it hard to break the chain since it is a heavy loss to lose a love one. With this chain reaction, we see that more and more family members die which a heavy is lost to them. Negative plus negative in this case does not equal a positive which makes both families losers at the end. This conflict helped me to understand how they deal with things are costly to them.

In conclusion, conflicts in they play are important because they result in many outcomes and aid you to understand the key ideas in the play.
